Take 2 Tuesday: Our Final Project

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Ms. Korisa here. Although the 2017 Take 2 Creative Camp is over, Mr. Curtis and I decided to continue updating this blog. It was such an amazing experience for all of us that it did not seem right to abandon the blog and all the time and effort we put into it. Instead, we decided to keep it active with student updates, favorite memories, photographs, videos, etc. Mr. Curtis and I did not want Take 2 to end on the last day. We wanted our students to incorporate what they learned in their everyday lives and possibly to teach others what they learned. They are bright kids with a ton of potential, and even though we do not see them everyday, we are thinking of them. What can I say? We’re their lifelong cheerleaders.

In keeping up with our Tuesday posts, I bring to you another Take 2 Tuesday (#T2T). As you may have read in previous posts, the final project for the summer was to create original movies. Mr. Curtis and I took it a step further and decided to incorporate the Bechdel and Deggans tests, which speak about women and minorities in media. Each group was assigned one of these tests and needed to create a fail and pass version of their original movies. They were in charge of everything, from beginning to end. From creating a story, to writing a proper script, to rehearsing and acting, to working behind the camera, and finally to editing them, the teens really stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park.

I’ll be honest. I miss having them around, but it is fulfilling to know that I can watch any one of these movies or any of the other videos we created and be reminded of our summer together.

Without further ado, may I finally premiere for your viewing pleasure, The Haunted Hallway, The Math Test, Wandering in Circles, and Tarantula Man.

Enjoy.

-Ms. Korisa-
